Over the past years, al Sawt al Hurr’s alumni program has worked to maintain links between our network of alumni in the six countries where al Sawt al Hurr has worked. The aim of the program is to establish and maintain a network of professional journalists committed to developing their profession. The program works to raise the standards and skills of its alumni through a series of trainings and regular meetings to create a community of well-trained professional journalists.
This program focuses on developing the capacities of local trainers and creating a network of local trainers in the fields of law and journalism, as well as constantly supporting this network with newly qualified trainers. The program also aims to provide a database of training material in Arabic to enhance Arab journalists’ capabilities.
Partnerships (with syndicates and media organizations)
Our partnership programs provide trainings in specialized topics including economic journalism, social media, civil society news and legal awareness, in association with strategic partners such as journalism syndicates and other media organizations. Our partnership programs also aim to share professional experiences by working to support media organizations.
Al Sawt al Hurr’s research program has developed several research documents over the past years, and aims to provide regular feedback on the performance of the media in the six countries in which it works. The research program also provides workers in the media field with papers and documents related to topics of interest for their work, such as legal awareness and journalistic standards and methods.
Fresh graduate training program
This is a specialized program to train undergraduates and fresh graduates in media and journalism in the required competencies of the market, to provide the field with qualified professional candidates.
This program focuses on building the capacities of journalists in specific fields, including economic journalism, social media tools, civil society news and writing for internet news sites. In addition, lawyers are trained to specialize in journalism laws and legislation.
